Sunday, 7-17-11

“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Matthew 22:37-39

Today we attended church at Drohovich Church, about 30 minutes from here in Borislav. It is a small church, but the people were sincere and very welcoming of us. The group sang together “Lord I Lift Your Name on High” and Micah sang a song he wrote after visiting the orphanage last year. Billy preached, as well as the pastor of the church. Afterwards we were graciously fed by the church and then we headed back here to the seminary for a little over an hour of rest.
At 4 pm, the children who attended camp this week had been invited to come back to Borislav church for a special children’s service. Many of the kids came back and they were able to sing some of the songs they learned at camp. We Americans did our best to sing along…Afterwards we had refreshments with all the campers, church members, and parents. Many parents have come to give their contact information to the church to make sure that their children’s names will be on the roll for Sunday School in the fall. It is great to see that the connection has been made to the church through the camp.
Later…our team went to the school near the church to attempt to play volleyball against the Ukrainians…ha. We could not hold a candle to their skill! However, it was fun to play with them. Busy day, but a fun day!
Above--the team dressed up for church!
